Sarah Cate... Sitting in the classroom, 12 years old, I'd gaze out the window and think, all I want to be when I grow up, is able to lay back in the sun, relax and do exactly what I want, when I want, and enjoy the simple pleasures of life.It sure did go my way. I began Adventure Guide training at 16 and in 1997 I was a White Water Rafting Guide on the Tongariro River. I Absolutely loved it.
In 2001 I was on a plane to Japan. I had no idea how to raft in japanese!!!!
I learnt...Fast!
I would travel to and raft in Japan for 4 Seasons. I even managed to talk my way into a job Raft Guiding in Montana a Cowboy State of the US.
At this stage, back in NZ I was senior guiding, multi-day canoeing/rafting trips on the Whanganui River. As much as I enjoyed it, I felt I needed to take the next step.
I was fortunate to have a very dear friend say...."Sezz you should set up and run your own business", "OK !! That sounds like a great idea."
And so it began. Worked hard, saved money, borrowed from friends and on the 1st of December 2003 I had my first 2 Adventure Kayak customers.
I love it, I am happy and you should book all of your buddies in, and come an experience this great adventure playground I am proud to call my office :)
